Bashundhara Kings is a professional football club based in Bashundhara Residential Area, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The club competes in the Bangladesh Premier League, the top tier of the country’s football league system. Established in 2013, the club made its debut in the Bangladesh Premier League during the 2018–19 season. It is owned and managed by Bashundhara Group, one of the largest conglomerates in the country.

Early History and Formation

Bashundhara Kings began their football journey in 2016 by participating in the Dhaka City Corporation (North & South) Pioneer League. In their debut season, the club secured 3rd place, earning promotion to the Third Division Football League. However, instead of competing in the third tier, the club aimed higher and chose to participate in the Bangladesh Championship League (BCL), the country’s second-tier football league. After meeting all the necessary conditions, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) approved their participation in March 2017.

Championship League Debut

On May 13, 2017, Bashundhara Kings completed their player registration for the 2017 Bangladesh Championship League. Former national team striker Rokonuzzaman Kanchan was appointed as the team captain, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the club. Under his leadership, the team displayed a strong and well-organized performance throughout the season.

Rise to Professional Football
